Youth

Oakland Baptist Church Youth

The Oakland Baptist Church Youth (OBCY) is comprised of grades 6 through 12 and meets every Sunday at 9:45am and Wednesday at 7:00pm. This close-knit group of terrific kids stays very busy throughout the year with:

CURRENT EVENTS:

Souper Bowl - Sunday, February 5 - The Youth will host our annual "Souper Bowl" luncheon in the fellowship hall immediately following worship.  Everyone attending is encouraged to bring a crock pot full of your best soup or chili!  Each pot will be voted on with monetary donations and the winner wins a great prize!  All proceeds go to offset costs for Summer Camp!

Summer Camp:

Camp Info 2017 – MC2 Camp at Eagle Eyrie, July 24-28

MC2 is an INTERGENERATIONAL camp experience featuring Missions, Discipleship, Worship, Fellowship, and Fun.  There is something for ALL AGES!  (Any child who has completed 4th grade may go without a parent, younger children will need a parent/grandparent to attend.)

This year’s theme is: Legacy, Living a Life That Lasts based on Hebrews 12:1-2.

An $80 non-refundable deposit is due on or before March 5, 2017.  An additional $115 will be due on or before June 25 (covers meals and bed linens).  The youth fund will cover the rental of one of Eagle Eyrie’s Lodges.

For more information contact Shelby Jones and/or visit www.eagleeyrie.org/MC2.  There will be a brief, informational meeting held on Sunday, February 26 following worship for those who have questions.

Our Youth continue to stay active through many activities throughout the year:

Fun Activities: Mission work, lock-ins, outings such as camping or Kings Dominion and whatever else we can think of to keep in close fellowship with one another.

Participation in Special Events: Vacation Bible School, MFuge Mission Camp, Youth Retreat and Youth Sunday.

Fundraisers:  The youth hosts our annual Souper Bowl Sunday lunch every year.  The congregation is encouraged to bring their best recipes in their crock pots and compete for a SUPER prize!  Depending on the need, the youth may also hold other events during the year such as a talent show/dinner or luncheon following worship.
