Supporting our missionaries is very important to Oakland. We support local, state, North American and international missions through various organizations:

Oakland is a proud member of the Goshen Baptist Association and support and partner with them to help those in need in our local area.

Oakland works with the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) to support missions within the state of Virginia.

North American Missions

The Church is God’s plan—you are God’s plan—to reach North America and the nations with the hope of the gospel, and the North American Mission Board is here to help.

PAST MINISTRY: Bread Ministry in Romania

NOT AN ACTIVE MINISTRY Oakland Baptist Church, through the Goshen Baptist Association, provided support for a bread ministry in Romania.  At one point in the past, Oakland gave an additional special offering to aid this valuable ministry. Pastor Florin Boruga, who lead this ministry stated that our missions support of Goshen does indeed impact lives in countless ways.  This information can also serve as an encouragement for us to pray for this ministry.  Here are pastor Florin’s answers to John’s questions:…

CURRENT MINISTRY: Armenia Church Planters

In 2023, Goshen Baptist Association entered into a five-year partnership with the Armenia Baptist Association to support church planters in the Yerevan and Sisian areas in Armenia. A team of eight, including one member from Oakland, travelled to Armenia in August of 2023 to conduct Bible School for three different churches as well as various construction projects. A new team is currently being assembled to return to Armenia this summer from August 15-27. We have two members from Oakland that…
